I’m currently the federal policy reporter at Inside Higher Ed, a trade publication focused on colleges and universities. I cover everything that happens in Washington, DC that affects higher education.  I graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism.

My favorite part of the beat includes building sources, figuring out the inner workings of the U.S. Education Department,  making policy conversations accessible, connecting present decisions to the bigger picture and providing context needed for readers to understand what’s happening and why. Talking with students remains the most rewarding part of the job. I do love the grind of turning stories quickly while also digging into bigger issues that matter to the community.
